Central Fill/Non-Retail Packager
Central Fill is an off-site pharmacy operated by McKesson or a third-party packaging group, that packages and checks compliance packaging for other pharmacies.
When implemented at your pharmacy, the packaging and technical checking of compliance packages no longer take place at your pharmacy, but will take place at the Central Fill pharmacy.
Some pharmacies may not submit prescriptions to Central Fill but rather, a non-retail packager located on-site or off-site. The process for sending prescriptions to a non-retail packager is the same as the process for sending prescriptions to Central Fill.
